Citizens of the following states can enter Colombia without a visa and stay temporarily if they have valid residency in a Schengen Area country or in the United States. Alternatively, they can enter if they hold a Schengen visa or a U.S. visa, both with a minimum validity of 180 days at the time of entry into Colombia.

Passport holders from countries or territories exempt from visa requirements in Colombia, as determined by Resolution 5588 of 2022, will be exempt from visa requirements as long as their stay in Colombia does not exceed 180 calendar days and they do not receive salary or wages in the country.

Visa Application Process
If you have already confirmed on this site or on the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website that you need a visa and must apply for one, you can proceed independently by submitting an application. Please note that visas are electronic and are processed through the Cancillería de Colombia.

Please note that for the FIDA Convention the Visa (Type V) known as Visitor Visa would apply.
La Type V Visa allows foreigners to visit Colombia one or multiple times and stay for a period without establishing permanent residence. This visa is ideal for academics, conference attendees, festival artists, high-performance athletes, as well as tourists, entrepreneurs, and students in arts and crafts.
It facilitates activities such as medical treatment, legal procedures, internships, volunteering, audiovisual production, and journalism. However, it does not authorize permanent work in Colombia.
- A motivated communication signed by the legal representative of the legal entity:
- Full identification of the legal entity including the NIT (if established in Colombia) and contact details.
- Complete identification of the foreigner.
- Letter from the legal representative supporting the application, specifying the planned activity in Colombia, its duration, the relationship with the legal entity, and who will assume the expenses for the foreigner’s travel and stay. The communication should also include details of other foreigners supported by the company.
- Commitment to guarantee the foreigner’s return to their home country or report if they remain irregularly in Colombia.
- Explanation of the relationship with the foreigner and their special qualification, if applicable.
- Declaration of economic responsibility signed and fingerprinted, or apostilled if signed before a foreign competent authority.
- For legal entities established abroad:
- Certificate of existence, incorporation, and legal representation, apostilled or legalized, with an official translation into Spanish if not in this language.
- Proof of economic solvency through bank statements for the last three months, except for public entities.
- Digital photograph size 3×4 with a white background.
- Copy or scan of the passport with biographical data.
- Validity for up to one year, with a maximum stay of 180 days within a period of 365 days.
- This visa does not allow applications as a dependent.
10. Exemption for holders of passports from visa-exempt countries under Resolution 5488 of 2022, under specific conditions related to academic exchange or research.

- No glare should be present in the photo
- The photo must not be blurry or pixelated
